The Catholic Church
There is a renowned controversy behind the honorable gestures of the revered Catholic Church. Accusations of hidden wealth, of corrupt priests, of child molesters, of cheating, and of lying surround the pure image that the Catholic Church fights so hard to protect. Did you know that there’s no other standing institution in this world that can defeat the bloody history that the Catholic Church has painted? Feasts of countless saints, humane exercises, and other godly traditions oftentimes cover up that ugly history. Did you also know the Catholic Church remains one the richest institution by housing billions worth of masterpieces in the works of grand art masters such as Michelangelo, Raphael, Bernini and the likes? The Vatican Church itself houses other priceless artifacts such as the tomb of St. Peter, the obelisk from Caligula, the Vatican archives, and so many more. The proof that this is a fact was made valid in the 12th of March 2000. Pope John Paul II kneeled before the worldwide audience to ask forgiveness for the sins that the church has done in history.
The controversy of Jesus Christ’s divinity
Jesus Christ had always been the center of the Catholic faith. His teachings and principles became the backbone of the faith. He is the ‘Son of God’, made into flesh in this earth to save mankind from eternal damnation. He was definitely, and inarguably, the most powerful and influential man of all time. However, his divinity was only elected and voted for in the Council of Nicea in the 325AD by the leadership of Emperor Constantine. In order to control the massive outbreak of Jesus’ followers, the emperor sought to bring order among all of them and amass great power in return. The chapters of the Bible were chosen. Only those chapters that reflect his divinity were published, and those that reflect his humanity were deleted. Pagan traditions and symbols were converted into Christian symbols, such as the cross, the fish symbol of Christ, the Bible stories, the crown of thorns, and many more.
The appointment of St. Peter as head of the Catholic Church
St. Peter as Jesus Christ’s most trusted apostle was appointed to be the Rock, the Foundation from which the community of believers should be built. From him rose the Catholic Church. He was the very first Pope, the Head responsible for spreading the good news to the world. However, some scholars argue that St. Peter should not have been the rightful heir to the throne. It was supposed to be Mary Magdalene, the woman wrongly accused of being a prostitute in Jesus Christ’s time.
The bloody history of the church
After the Council of Nicea, the hunting on mankind began. Those who oppose the newly implemented regime of the emperor will be persecuted. Muslims, gypsies, peasants, pagans, children, old men and women who were all unwilling to be converted to Christianity were beheaded and killed. This was the ultimate mission of the Crusades that went on since 1095AD.
